Can you sue a mortgage company?

If my mortgage company hires a company to go into my house an clean it out without any notice to me. Foreclosure has not even begun. We are filing bankrupcy on this property because of hard times and we went to the house to get our belongings and they were gone and what was left was busted and destroyed. I have called the mortgage company 4 times to get the number of the company hired and was given 4 wrong numbers. I recently submitted a letter that I sent certified to the mortgage company, it was directed to management telling them all of this stuff and gave him one week from the day they received the letter to respond to me with an offer of compensation for our belongings. I also submitted a list of items gone and destroyed. I am waiting to hear from a lawyer, but what do you think.
